On Sunday, April 17th, the city of Marbella paid tribute to mayor Francisco Romero Añón with the opening of a street in his name. This particular street gives access to the Marbella promenade from the Avenida de España, where the Da Bruno restaurant can be found .
Francisco Romero Añón was mayor of Marbella from May 1936 to January 1937. He was executed in 1940 for charges of military rebellion, and is now honored with his own road as a tribute to all former Republican mayors.
The event, which took place near the entrance to Da Bruno Sul Mare, was officiated by José Bernal, the current mayor of Marbella, and was attended by relatives of Romero Añón who expressed their thanks for the City Council initiative.
