Asparagus is filled with many nutrients and health benefits, and it just so happens to be in full season right now. As a diuretic food with very few calories, asparagus is the perfect addition to this year's "operation bikini."
At Da Bruno, we have a special selection of dishes made with fresh white Navarra asparagus, but if you want to cook it yourself at home, we're here to tell you how to prepare this delicious vegetable.
First , it's important to thoroughly wash the asparagus without touching the tips in order to remove any traces of dirt. Next, remove the tough outer layer of skin with the help of a vegetable peeler by peeling from the tip to the stem and also cutting slightly.
In a tall pot, boil water with a tablespoon of salt and sugar and add asparagus tied with a rope so that it remains in one place. The water should cover the entire stem and the tips should be exposed to the air.
The cooking time is between 10 and 15 minutes depending on the thickness of the asparagus. Once the stems are finished cooking, it's necessary to spend another 5 minutes cooking the asparagus buds. Finally, drain and enjoy!
